In memory of Armistice Day, representatives of the Allied countries gathered at a wreath-laying ceremony at the New Cemetery in Belgrade to honor those who fell for freedom in the First World War.
Wreaths were laid by the delegations of the Serbian People’s Party, Rassemblement National (France), the Lega (Italy), and two clubs of American Republicans. This act is a symbol of mutual respect and remembrance of the victims of war, but also a reminder of the importance of peace and cooperation between nations.
Dr. Nenad Popović, president of the Serbian People’s Party, said after the wreath-laying ceremony:
”Armistice Day is a day that should remind us all of the sacrifice of our ancestors in the fight for freedom and justice. I am very glad that the representatives of the Allied countries are with us today and that together, respecting the lives that the generations before us laid down defending the motherland, we stand here today as friends and partners in building a better future for the generations after us.”
